Dissolvine Green Chelators

Dissolvine Green Chelators chemically combine an amine and a carboxylic acid in one molecule. This powerful chemical combination creates aminopolycarboxylates (APCs) that form more stable complexes with metal ions than other chelators.

In fact, they are the most commonly used chelators due to their cost-effectiveness and versatility. Dissolvine chelators are stable over a wider temperature and pH range, have a stronger affinity for metals, and are therefore more efficient than other less effective chelators. They also have good water solubility and are inert to most chemicals. In addition, some products in the Dissolvine chelator line are readily biodegradable (closed-test-OECD301D), have no health and environmental warning words, and some are bio-based products.

We offer the following Dissolvine environmentally friendly chelates listed below. EDTA is usually preferred, but specific applications may require other chelators. The common specific properties of these molecules are as follows:

EDTA

The most widely used, strong, and cost-effective general-purpose chelating agent.

GLDA

The green chelating agent in our product range. It is a safe and readily biodegradable chelator that can replace NTA, EDTA, phosphates, and phosphonates, especially in cleaning applications. It has high solubility over a wide pH range and is soluble in acids and several non-aqueous solvents. Most of the molecule is derived from natural, sustainable sources.

MGDA

A safe and readily biodegradable strong chelating agent that can replace NTA, EDTA, phosphates, and phosphonates, especially suited for cleaning applications with short contact times.

Glucoheptonate

A carbohydrate-based biodegradable chelating agent. It generally has weaker chelating ability for ferric hydroxide and other transition metal ions at high pH compared to the mentioned aminopolycarboxylate (APC). Like GLDA, most of the molecule is derived from natural, sustainable sources.

EDG

A readily biodegradable chelating agent, effective when a relatively weak chelator is sufficient.

DTPA

A specialized strong chelating agent recommended for applications like peroxide bleaching of pulp. It remains effective under oxidative conditions and is particularly suitable for scale removal in oilfield applications.

HEDTA

A chelating agent with similar performance to EDTA but fewer hazard phrases and pictograms. Especially useful when high solubility is needed under low pH and when iron stabilization is required at high pH.
